Machinery Operator
Location: Katherine, NT
We are on the lookout for hardworking, conscientious, reliable team players to join our crew as Machinery Operators. Operating tractors and other heavy machinery on a daily basis, you will use your skills in slashing, spraying, mulching, tillage, ground preparation and air seeding to complete customer projects to ensure they are delivered to a high standard and to the agreed timeframe. You will undertake general machine maintenance, greasing and refuelling, and you will be expected to update your hours and timesheets in the job portal. Whilst some work is local, much of our work is remote, so you need to be comfortable being away from home for up to 2 weeks at a time. You are easy-going, friendly, honest, and responsive. You always operate with professionalism and pride, and you’re known for having a service-oriented approach and a great attitude. Other people enjoy working with you because you always muck in and help, whatever the job. You are skilled at driving tractors, graders, frontend loaders and other machinery. You can be relied upon to look after the equipment to prevent unnecessary maintenance. Willing and helpful, you’re good at following processes and you support your teammates and help out where needed. You have a good attention for detail and you’re thorough and precise when it comes to completing tasks.

Mechanics 2026 Season

Looking for a change? Ready for the 2026 season, we are hiring for mechanics based at Tipperary Station and Katherine. Plenty of excitement and new opportunities are waiting for you! Responsibilities Complete all work orders in Fiix daily All machinery repairs and maintenance to be done both in field and in workshop. All machinery servicing to be completed with service books/stickers to be maintained. All parts to be ordered through to be promptly requested through the Operations Support Officer. Check over own work to make sure machine will be perfectly operational after repairs, servicing and maintenance completed. Maintain cleanliness of the workshop and all operational areas free of hazards Cleanliness of work vehicle and tooling. Maintain parts stocktakes in conjunction with operations support Always create work orders for any job that do not have a work order. Expectations Attention to detail. Clean work habits. Quality mechanic knowledge of ag machinery. Good time management and prioritisation skills. Highly motivated and passionate, proactive. Autonomous. Will ask for help and advice when unsure, but not before attempting to find a solution to the task - "we focus on solutions, not problems". Outcomes Less breakdowns in field Workshop hours used effectively Workshop areas clean and free of hazards Tools maintained and minimised spending on replacement tooling Client satisfaction and repeat work Job completed once each time, problems not ongoing

In the operator’s role you will be operating machinery including but not limited to cotton pickers/ strippers, combine harvester, boom sprayers, speed tillers, savannah stick rakes, land planes, fertiliser rigs, planters, mulchers, bale runners, stalk pullers and trucks. Must be able to work in a team environment, experience with John Deere and green stars GPS systems are desirable but not essential. You will undertake general machine maintenance, greasing and refueling, and you will be expected to update your hours and timesheets in our Teams app. Whilst some work is local, much of our work is remote, so you need to be comfortable being away from home for up to 2 weeks at a time.
